Four New Eateries Coming to University Village

Riverside, Calif. (April 29, 2014) - NewMark Merrill Companies will welcome four new eateries to University Village, located at 1201 University Avenue In Riverside. Greg Giacopuzzi, leasing associate with NewMark Merrill Companies, negotiated the five-year leases with the four restaurants. Jersey Mike's Subs, The Spot Sports Bar & Grill, Polar Shaved Ice and ZIZI will all open by summer.

Jersey Mike's Subs is putting the finishing touches on a 1,355 square foot space in Suite 103 near Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill to open in May. The University Village restaurant is the second Jersey Mike's Sub location in Riverside for owners Sam Samaan and Wahid Karas. Jersey Mike's Subs, a rapidly- growing sandwich chain with more than 1,300 U.S. locations, has developed a reputation for charitable giving. The fast-casual restaurant chain has raised more than $7.5 million for various causes since 2010. Samaan and Karas will continue the proud tradition of community involvement with fundraisers for local organizations at the University Village location.

The Spot Sports Bar & Grill will open this summer to serve classic pub foods and Mediterranean cuisine. Sports fans can watch the big game on more than a dozen 60-inch definition monitors throughout the 3,017 square foot restaurant and bar, which will be located in Suite 140, across from Starbucks at University Village. University of California, Riverside students and alumni will love the yellow and blue color scheme and Highland athletic memorabilia displays. University of California, Riverside students with ID will also receive great discounts.

Polar Shaved Ice will open just in time for summer. The restaurant, located in a 946- square foot space near Boba Café, will feature cold treats and other specialty food.

ZIZI, a unique restaurant with Asian inspired cuisine, will also open this summer. The 1,645 square foot restaurant will be located near T-Mobile at University Village.
